Most full-time students cannot claim Universal Credit, but there are important exceptions. You may qualify if you are responsible for a child, live with an eligible partner, or meet certain disability and limited-capability-for-work rules; some students under 21 on non-advanced courses may also qualify. Any student maintenance loan you are entitled to can affect the amount of Universal Credit, even if you do not take the full loan. Check the current rules on GOV.UK or ask your work coach to assess your individual circumstances.
