You can apply for Universal Credit online through GOV.UK; the eligibility rules are generally the same across Wales, although some support services are provided locally. You may need to attend an appointment, agree a claimant commitment and provide details about your income, rent, savings and household. Your first payment is usually made about five weeks after claiming, but you can ask the Department for Work and Pensions about an advance, which must normally be repaid from later payments.
