A PIP assessment usually involves questions about how your physical or mental health condition affects everyday activities and getting around, rather than focusing only on your diagnosis. It may be held in person, by phone or by video, and you can usually have someone with you if arranged in advance. Explain what happens on your difficult days, how often it happens and what help, aids or prompting you need; do not feel you must hide your difficulties. The health professional writes a report, but the Department for Work and Pensions makes the final decision after considering it and your evidence.
