Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is a benefit to help with extra costs caused by a long-term physical or mental health condition or disability. It is based on how your condition affects daily living and mobility, not on your income or savings, and you may qualify whether you work or not. You normally need difficulties that have lasted, or are expected to last, at least 12 months, with eligibility decided after considering your circumstances and evidence. Check the latest rules and claim process on GOV.UK; in Scotland, new claims are generally made for Adult Disability Payment instead.
